Looking for fun experiences in Alcocéber? Join us on an enriching excursion to Traiguera and Cervera del Maestre, where you'll uncover the charms of these picturesque villages in the northern reaches of Castellón.
Description
Our adventure begins after we meet up at the Alcocéber Tourist Office at the designated time, marking the beginning of our journey to Traiguera and Cervera del Maestre.
Our first leg of the journey to Traiguera will span approximately 45 minutes. Upon arrival, we'll visit an olive oil cellar, home to a magnificent collection of over 100 ancient olive trees, including the renowned Sinfo olive tree—an ancient gem that stands as one of the oldest in all of Europe.
Here, we'll delve into the intricate processes of olive oil production and refinement, learning about the alchemy that transforms olives into liquid gold. Naturally, we'll conclude this enlightening visit with an olive oil tasting, complemented by delightful local sausages.
Following our tasting, we'll proceed to Cervera del Maestre, where we'll explore the Oil Interpretation Center. Within this fascinating establishment, we'll encounter an array of tools integral to the daily lives of farmers who work in olive tree cultivation, from oil extraction to packaging.
Our journey continues with a guided tour of Cervera del Maestre, during which we'll be treated to sights of its principal landmarks. Be prepared to be enchanted by sites such as the Church of the Assumption, the remnants of the medieval marketplace, and the exterior of the 12th-century castle.
Before we return to Alcocéber, we'll circle back to Traiguera, where we'll visit the esteemed Real Santuario Virgen Fuente de la Salud. Did you know that this sanctuary was designated a Cultural Interest site in 2007? We'll unravel the story behind this recognition as we explore its hallowed chambers.
Our five-hour journey will come to an end as we bid farewell, returning to our starting point in Alcocéber.
