Arapiuns River 5-Day Tour
Day 1
At 9 am, we'll pick you up from the Tourist Information Centre in Alter do Chão and board a boat so we can start exploring the Arapiuns River. During our boat trip, we'll pass by Piranhas Lake and travel through Ponta do Cururu until we come to the spot where Urucurea's Indigenous community resides.
When we get there, we'll learn all about their way of life. If you like, you can watch a traditional crafts demonstration. You'll also be able to choose whether you'd like to go hiking or on a canoe tour of the beaches - it's up to you! Later on in the afternoon, we'll have lunch at a local's house.
As the day comes to an end, we'll relax in a hammock while listening to the soundtrack of nature. We'll then set off to Ponta do Toronó and the Grande Lake to admire a spectacular sunset.
Day 2
Rise and shine! You can spend the morning snorkelling, taking photos and relaxing in this beautiful spot. Afterwards, we'll board a boat and sail along the left bank of the Arapiuns River to get to the Coroca community.
When we get there, we'll learn about the community's ecotourism and conservation project, turtle breeding and beekeeping. We'll then have lunch with the locals and continue our journey to Aruã. On the way, we'll make a short stop in the communities of São Pedro and São José. Later on, we'll camp on Mount Sião and go to sleep under the stars.
Day 3
On our third day, we'll take a boat trip to the Aruã Waterfall. We'll travel along the Arapiuns River and admire its flora and fauna.
Once we've arrived at the peaceful waterfall, we'll spend the day exploring its trails and trying typical food. If you're feeling adventurous, you can jump into the waterfall from high up. We'll go to sleep around a campfire next to the waterfall.
Day 4
After leaving Aruã behind, we'll set off for the Ponta do Papagaio Beach, where we'll have a delicious lunch. Feeling re-energised, we'll head to the community of São Francisco where you can take a dip.
We'll then board the boats that'll take us to Ponta Grande, which is surrounded by beautiful dunes where we'll admire one of the most breathtaking sunsets in the Brazilian Amazon. While we're at this idyllic spot, we'll make a bonfire so we can cook some fish and chat about our trip. When it's time to go to sleep, you can choose whether you'd like to camp on the beach or sleep on the boat.
Day 5
Hasn't the time flown by? On our last day, you'll have the morning free to explore the area. At midday, we'll set off for Punta de Icuxi, where the New Year's Eve celebrations are usually held. When we get there, we'll have a dish that represents the tasty local gastronomy.
Next, we'll leave the Arapiuns River behind to cross the Tapajós River and gaze at a magnificent sunset at Ponta do Cururu. We'll then head back to Alter do Chão and drop you off at the starting point at around 7 pm.
