The Cangaço Route is one of the main tourist routes along the banks of the São Francisco River. On this day trip from Aracaju, we’ll enjoy its stunning landscapes.
Day Trip Details
We’ll pick you up from your hotel in Aracaju at the scheduled time and head toward the towns along the Cangaço Route. Ready to discover one of the most beautiful areas in northeastern Brazil?
We’ll kick off the Cangaço Route tour with a four-hour boat ride along the São Francisco River. As we sail, you’ll see lush vegetation, with the deep greens of the forest contrasting beautifully with the ochre tones of the riverside rocks.
The journey will take us to the Cangaço Ecopark, an area closely linked to Lampião, Brazil’s most famous cangaceiro, and his inseparable companion Maria Bonita, considered the first woman to actively join these rebel groups. Both became powerful popular symbols of struggle, myth, and contradiction in Brazilian history.
At the ecopark, you’ll have between three and four hours to enjoy the natural surroundings and take a refreshing swim in the São Francisco River. There’s also a restaurant in the park where you can try Brazilian cuisine. We’ll also take a short hike to the Grota de Angicos, the cave where Lampião died.
Finally, we’ll begin the four-hour return journey to Aracaju from the Cangaço Ecopark. Arrival at your hotel is expected between 12.5 and 13.5 hours after departure.

When booking, depending on availability, you can choose the tour with or without the boat ride. If you select the option without the boat ride, you’ll need to pay the boat fee in cash on the day of the activity.
