Day Trip Details
After picking you up from your hotel in Arraial d’Ajuda, we’ll set off on a 130 km (80 mi) journey to the Caraíva River, a drive of around 2.5 hours.
Once there, we’ll hop into a canoe to reach areas where vehicles aren’t allowed. The ride lasts about 5 minutes, short but memorable, as you glide along the river to the gentle sway of the water, the sparkle of its surface, and the quiet broken only by the sound of the paddles.
Soon after, we’ll arrive in Caraíva, a small coastal village where time seems to stand still. After leaving the canoe, we’ll walk to Caraíva Beach. There, you’ll have 4 hours of free time to move at the pace of the sea, feel the warm breeze, and stroll along the shore to the point where the river meets the Atlantic Ocean.
We also recommend wandering through the village streets, lined with colorful, rustic-style houses. When hunger strikes, you can grab lunch at a local restaurant and take a walk around the main square, home to a small church that seems to tell stories of fishermen and local festivities. Caraíva is one of those places where life flows without haste.
Finally, we’ll meet up again to begin the return journey to your hotel, where we’ll say goodbye around 9 hours after pickup.
