Follow in the footsteps of famous archaeologists on our Cilento Coast Hike. You'll also be accompanied by the sweet scent of the fragrant Ginestra del Cilento flower while you walk.
At 9 am, we'll meet up in front of the Ascea Railway Station and set off on our hike along the Cilento Coast. This part of the Campania region includes the coastline between the gulfs of Salerno and Policastro and has been declared a World Heritage Site.
We'll walk along paths that have been frequented by prestigious archaeologists, such as François Lenormant, in search of ruins. One of the ruins we'll come across will be those of Telegraph Tower, which dates back to the 16th century.
As we walk, we'll begin to notice the intoxicating scent of ginestra cilentina, a variety of flower characteristic of this part of Italy. These unique little flowers will accompany us throughout the hike as we pass through tunnels carved into cliffs and hidden coves.
During our hike along the Cilento Coast, we'll also climb up to the Piano della Torre peak. From here, we'll gaze out at beautiful panoramic views of our surroundings.
It'll then be time to return to Ascea, where we'll finish our route at 12 noon.
