Ancient Corinth Day Trip
Let's get the day started off right and we'll pick you up from your hotel in Athens to set off west in the direction of Ancient Corinth. Ready to travel back to ancient times?
During the drive, we'll pass by other sites like Daphnis and Elefsis, enjoying the coastal landscapes passing us by with pristine beaches. Don't forget your camera!
Our first stop of the day will be the Corinth Canal, an impressive engineering feat built in the 1890s to unite the Saronic Gulf with the Gulf of Corinth. We'll pause here for a moment to admire the stunning panoramic view and of course, take some great photos.
We'll continue on towards Corinth, where history lives around every corner. In ancient times, it was one of the richest cities, thanks to its strategic position, and something that's still palpable to this day in its archeological ruins. Did you know according to biblical accounts, the apostle St. Paul preached there for 18 months in 50 A.D.?
During our visit to Ancient Corinth, we'll explore the Agora or market square, several fountains, and the majestic Temple of Apollo, from the 6th century B.C. Despite the terrible earthquakes the city suffered in 375 A.D. and 521 A.D., the layout of the Roman city is still preserved. Strolling through these relics will allow us to imagine life in one of the most influential cities of ancient Greece and Rome.
Finally, we'll head back to Athens, arriving about 6 hours after pickup.
