Day Trip Details
After meeting at the central Teatro Petruzzelli, we’ll board a minibus and set course for Lecce. During the 1.5-hour journey, the guide will reveal the secrets, history, and fun facts of this city. You won’t miss a thing!
Once in Lecce, we’ll begin a complete walking tour through the historic center. We’ll walk along the most elegant streets and see the main monuments of this city in Apulia. We’ll see the impressive Piazza Sant’Oronzo, with its Roman amphitheater and the column of the patron saint.
We’ll continue to the majestic Basilica of Santa Croce, a true baroque masterpiece, and admire the secluded and elegant Piazza del Duomo, with its Cathedral and bell tower. You'll love it!
Throughout the tour, the guide will explain the origins of Lecce's baroque style and tell us about its rich artistic heritage and local traditions, such as the famous cartapesta craftsmanship, or paper-mâché art.
After the guided visit, you’ll have 1 hour of free time to explore the city on your own. You can eat at a typical trattoria, try a regional specialty such as ciceri e tria pasta or pasticciotti, or simply relax with a drink in one of the squares.
Once the free time is over, we’ll meet again on the minibus to begin the return journey to the starting point in Bari. Arrival is scheduled 7 hours later.
