Los Morillos Reserve Private Trip
At 10 am, we will depart from your hotel in Barreal in a comfortable off-road vehicle and stop in a beautiful Andean area at the foot of the Ansilta Mountain Range.
Located there, at an altitude of more than 10,000 feet, is the beautiful Los Morrillos reserve, where we will learn about the beautiful nature that surrounds us. Which are the predominant plants and which species survive best in these conditions? All these and many more questions will be answered by the staff of the reserve, which is managed by Fundación Vida Silvestre Argentina.
After this, we will trek for 45 minutes to the prehistoric caves of Los Morrillos, whose interior houses some famous cave paintings. These artworks are 8500 years old and are some of the few that are still preserved in Argentina. Most are representations of the sun or animals, but others are abstract figures that have given rise to many different interpretations. You will hear about some of the strange theories that surround them.
After the visit to the caves, we will return on foot to the original starting point, where a delicious picnic will be waiting for us, including the typical Argentinean picada. Afterward, we will continue to discover other special corners of this area of the Andes and return to Barreal.
We then head back, stopping for a snack along the way before dropping you at your hotel at 6 pm.
