We'll pick you up from your hotel in Barreirinhas and take you to the Preguiças River, where we'll board a speedboat and sail towards Tapuio.
Our first stop will be to learn about the artisan process of making manioc flour, which is widely used in Maranhão cuisine. This product and its production have become the main economic activity of this town.
Next, we'll get on the boat and sail for 40 minutes until we reach the House of Artisan Women of Marcelino. In this beautiful place, an association is dedicated to the craft of the buriti palm tree.
The women of this community are in charge of treating the fibers of this plant to create beautiful pieces of craftsmanship. You'll have the opportunity to buy some brilliant artisan souvenirs such as traditional bags, paintings, and many other objects.
