On this day trip to Saint-Émilion from Bordeaux, we'll visit the iconic Monolithic Church, and we'll also enjoy a wine tasting at a local winery - an experience for the senses!
Day Trip Details
At the appointed time, we’ll meet at 6 Allée de Tourny in Bordeaux and head to the medieval village of Saint-Émilion. Along the way, we’ll share some interesting facts about the region and its world-renowned wines.
After a journey of around 40 minutes, we'll arrive at Saint-Émilion, where we'll take a walking tour to uncover its bucolic historic centre, which has been declared a World Heritage Site. We'll first visit the Trinity Chapel, where we'll see the fusion of Romanesque and Gothic styles in its medieval paintings.
We'll continue this tour of Saint-Émilion by visiting the Monolithic Church. Did you know that this underground church was built into the rock by more than 50 monks? We'll visit the underground areas of this church to discover the impressive vaults and pillars of its catacombs, which will surely amaze you.
After visiting these underground areas, we'll make our way to the local winery to enjoy a wine tasting of 3 Grand Cru wines served with a platter of local cold cuts. Do you know how they're made? Do you know where they originate? We'll learn all about this and much more!
Finally, we will head back to Bordeaux, where we will conclude this 5-hour trip.
