If you're in Brasov, you can't miss this hiking route through Ciocanu. We'll explore an authentic mountain village in the heart of Romania and its surroundings – perfect for the adventurous!
Hiking in Ciocanu
At the indicated time, we'll meet in front of the Brasov County History Museum to start this hiking tour in Ciocanu. Ready, adventurers?
We'll go on a 1-hour drive to Ciocanu, a Transylvanian village surrounded by nature and high mountains. Along the way, we'll have beautiful views of the peaks of the Bucegi Natural Park, the Piatra Craiului National Park, and the Postavaru Massif.
Once we reach our destination, we'll start a 2-hour hike in the Piatra Craiului Mountains, on the border between the former Austro-Hungarian Empire and the Kingdom of Romania. You'll be completely enamored!
As we walk, we'll see more and more of the unique natural scenery in which this remote village is located. We'll also see many cows and sheep grazing since most of Ciocanu's people run cattle and sheep farms! During the 6.2-7.5 mile (10-12 km) walk, we'll also tell you many legends and curiosities of the region.
After the hike, a well-deserved lunch awaits us in a cozy house where we'll taste homemade cheeses, sausages, homegrown vegetables, preserves, and homemade pickles. Your mouth will be watering!
Finally, after 4 hours of experience, we'll head back to the meeting point in Brasov.
