Set off on a full-day trip from Budapest to one of Hungary’s most popular tourist destinations: Lake Balaton, Central Europe's largest freshwater lake, as well as its surrounding cities.
Lake Balaton Full-Day Trip
After meeting at the meeting point in Budapest, we'll start this day trip to discover Lake Balaton. Ready to see the largest lake in Central Europe? Let's go!
We'll leave Budapest behind and embark on the 2-hour drive to Tihany. This picturesque village offers the best views of the stunning Lake Balaton, a favourite tourist destination among Hungarians.
In Tihany, if you want, you can visit the Benedictine Abbey. The monastery was founded in 1055 by King Andrew I of Hungary, and he is buried in its crypt. The Abbey was reconstructed in 1754 in a Baroque style.
Afterward, we'll go on a 1-hour boat ride to take in the beauty of Lake Balaton from the water. You won't be able to stop taking pictures!
Lastly, we'll make our way to Balatonfüred, Hungary's oldest spa town. Here, we'll stroll along its elegant promenade.
Finally, we'll return to Budapest, where we'll arrive between 9.5 and 10 hours.
Train Ride
During the booking process, we'll inform you whether or not a train ride through Balatonfüred is included in your day trip, as this depends on availability. If the train ride is not available that day, you'll have more free time in the town.
