Want to find out if scuba diving is your thing without having to do a full certification course? With this beginner's scuba diving experience in Key Largo, you'll learn the basics of scuba diving and explore the coral reefs of the John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park—an adventure in the diving capital of the world!
Activity Details
We'll meet at the indicated time at the Overseas Highway to begin this exciting scuba diving experience in Key Largo.
We'll give you an hour-long theory chat about safety and how to use the equipment. Afterwards, we'll head to the swimming pool for a 1.5 to 2-hour practise session. This will be your chance to familiarise yourself with the equipment and build some confidence before the big dive.
After the pool session, you'll have an hour break to get a bite to eat for lunch. In the surrounding area, there are several options for getting something quick, like a sandwich or a snack.
Then, we'll walk to the pier, where we'll set sail towards the coral reefs in the John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park and its surroundings. This protected area is one of the most impressive natural treasures in southern Florida. You'll love it!
We'll do 2 dives of between 40 and 60 minutes each. Throughout these dives, you can admire the area's rich marine biodiversity: colourful fish, curious-shaped corals and, with a bit of luck, the occasional sea turtle.
After the second dive, we'll return to the departure point to say our goodbyes after between 7 and 8 hours in total.
Activity Requirements
You must know how to swim to take part in this activity. Additionally, you'll have to answer "no" to all the questions in a medical questionnaire, or else present a medical clearance stating that you are fit to dive. You can see the questionnaire at the following link:
