At the indicated time we'll pick you up from your hotel and start this complete tour of Cuenca, in which we'll visit the great tourist attractions of the so-called Athens of Ecuador. You'll fall in love with it!
We'll start the tour at the Turi viewpoint, from where you can get the best views of Cuenca. Photo opportunity! While we're there we'll also visit the workshop of one of the most famous ceramists in the country, the Eduardo Vega Gallery.
Next, we'll walk along the Barranco, along the River Tomebamba. There we'll come across the remains of the hanging houses and the Broken Bridge. After this pleasant stroll, we'll head to the Pumapungo Museum, which houses exhibitions focusing on anthropology, archaeology, ethnography, art, documentation and audiovisuals. It's the most important museum in the city!
Next stop: a Panama hat factory! There we'll learn about the process of making these accessories from a fibre called toquilla straw. You'll be able to find from the simplest and cheapest designs to the most colourful and elegant. Can you resist buying one?
Afterwards, we'll take you to the historic centre of Cuenca, declared a Unesco World Heritage Site. There you can enjoy a delicious Ecuadorian lunch in a local restaurant. Once we're refuelled, we'll visit the San Francisco market and the Plaza de las Flores, one of the most beautiful open-air flower markets in the world.
We'll then go to Abdon Calderon Park, from where we'll see the Old Cathedral next to the New Cathedral. Did you know that the latter is one of the largest churches in Latin America?
We'll finish the tour of Cuenca leaving you back at your accommodation 7 to 8 hours later.
