During this tour starting from Cuiabá, you'll embark on a unique experience of exploring the vast wetlands of Mato Grosso by both boat and safari. The area is renowned for its exceptional biodiversity and is recognized as the largest wetland in the world.
Safari Through the Mato Grosso Marshland
We'll pick you up at Avenida São Sebastião at 7:30 am and head south towards the Mato Grosso wetlands. Upon arrival, we'll embark on a 65-kilometer (40-mile) safari along the Transpantaneira highway, exploring the vast biodiversity of the world's largest wetland. Here, we'll have the opportunity to observe caimans, macaws, toucans, and even the jaguar, a true highlight of the region. The Mato Grosso marshlands were recognized as a World Heritage Site in 1988.
At noon, we'll arrive at a lodge where you can enjoy a refreshing swim in the pool before indulging in a typical Midwest Brazilian lunch. Grilled meat, chicken in sauce or roast, rice, beans, steaks, and salads are all part of the menu, a true delight for your taste buds!
Later, we'll take a boat ride to further explore the natural wonders of this region, observing how the annual floods affect the ecological balance of the wetland. The boat trip will last an hour, and we'll return to the departure pier before heading back to Cuiabá, where we'll arrive at the meeting point by 7:30 pm.
