Turquoise waters, bright blue icebergs, snowcapped peaks… soak up an incredible mix of colors on this Lake Viedma cruise, with hotel pickup in El Calafate.
Activity Details
At the scheduled time, we’ll pick you up from your hotel in El Calafate and head off toward one of the most beautiful spots in Santa Cruz Province, deep in Argentine Patagonia.
We’ll drive along Route 40, skirting Lake Argentino along the way. About halfway there, we’ll stop at Hotel La Leona, right on the banks of the river, where you can stretch your legs and buy some breakfast if you wish. Once you’ve recharged, we’ll continue the journey and, after around 3 hours on the road in total, arrive at Bahía Túnel port.
From this dock just outside El Chaltén, we’ll set off on our cruise across Lake Viedma. Ready for the views? We’ll sail over its striking turquoise waters while taking in the pale, snowy tones of the Huemul Massif rising in the distance, one of the region’s most iconic peaks.
We’ll keep cruising and, after about 40 minutes, dock at Cabo de Hornos Bay. From there, you’ll enjoy postcard-worthy scenery inside Los Glaciares National Park, with drifting ice blocks in Iceberg Bay and the dramatic peaks of the Andes as a backdrop.
After soaking up these incredible landscapes, we’ll head back to the boat and enjoy a sandwich, a brownie, and mineral water, all included. As we continue sailing, you can also buy lunch at the onboard bar while we make our way toward Viedma Glacier, the largest glacier in Argentina. From the deck, you’ll get an up-close look at its massive ancient wall of ice, with its deep blue hues and ever-shifting textures.
Finally, we’ll sail back to Bahía Túnel port. From there, we’ll drive about 3 hours back to your hotel in El Calafate, wrapping up this 12.5-hour experience.
