Visit the fascinating ruins of the Jesuit mission of San Ignacio when you join us on this amazing tour during which we will also visit the Wanda semi-precious stone mine.
Trip Details
Between 7 am and 7:30 am we'll pick you up from your hotel in Foz do Iguaçu and make our way to the Argentine province of Misiones. Our first stop will be the Wanda mines, about 60 kilometres away, and an important source of semi-precious stones exploited by Polish miners. Quartz, amethyst, topaz and agates are some of the stunning stones you can see on the tour, used as raw materials in the town's unique jewelry. Not to be missed!
After exploring the mines, we'll visit Jesuit ruins of San Ignacio de Miní, a complex said to be the best-preserved mission in Argentina.
Over the course of the day you'll learn about the history of the Jesuit Roque González Santa Cruz, who founded his mission to evangelize the native population in the 17th century. And the movie buffs among you might remember a certain movie in which these ruins featured starring Robert De Niro...You'll have free time for lunch in the town of San Ignacio, then we'll return to the bus and get back on the road.
From San Ignacio we will finally return to your hotel in Foz do Iguaçu, where arrival is scheduled between 6 pm and 7 pm.
Hotel Pickup
The tour includes hotel pickup at all hotels in Foz do Iguaçu, with the exception of the Belmond Hotel das Cataratas. If you're staying here, we'll contact you to let you know the exact time you should be ready at the entrance of the Iguassu National Park.
