Geneva Private Tour
Our private walking tour of Geneva begins on the banks of Lake Geneva. Here you'll witness the famous Jet d'Eau water fountain. This powerful stream of water rises up out of the lake at a speed of 125 miles per second and reaching heights of up to 450 feet.
Only a 10-minute walk away, we encounter the English Garden. Here, in this green park, you'll see the iconic flower clock. 6,500 flowering plants and shrubs have been arranged in the form of the design of a huge clock face. Ever since it was created in 1955, the clock's design has changed with each season of the year. This is one of the most photographed landmarks in Geneva.
We'll continue our route along Rue du Rhône. The luxury shops here make this street one of the most expensive in the city. From this commercial area, we then head to the Pont des Bergues bridge which will lead us to Rousseau island, a small islet located at the mouth of the Rhône. After hearing some fascinating facts about Jean-Jacques Rousseau, a key figure in the Enlightenment, we'll take a walk around the historic centre of Geneva.
In the city's Old Town, you'll admire the neoclassical design of St Pierre Cathedral. Its magnificent facade evokes the ancient temples of Greece. Closeby is Madeleine Church, one of the oldest protestant shrines in Switzerland. Here you'll hear all about the history of John Calvin, his time in Geneva, and his link to this wonderful place of worship.
We end the tour by returning to the same point of departure.
