Private Guangzhou History Tour
At 9 am we'll pick you up from your hotel and drive to the Huangpu old port, which has helped Guangzhou to become one of the most important trading cities in China.
When we reach the village of Huangpu, we'll visit its history museum to learn about the symbolic port on the ancient Silk Road and the Opium trade. We'll also go to Pak Tai Temple, famous for its huge blazing incense sticks.
After visiting the most important sights around Huangpu, we'll go to Lychee Bay, a set of rivers and lakes that flow to the Pearl River, and run through Guangzhou. In 1992 the bay completely disappeared due to factories being established over the years, but after a 10 year project, it was later restored by 2010. We'll walk along the many bridges, and stop at the more important Longjing Bridge, 57 meters long, and take in the views of the Wen Tower built during the Qing Dynasty.
Then we'll walk along the Beijing Road Ancient Avenue, one of the oldest commercial areas in Guangzhou, measuring 1,500 metres. Next, we'll stop for lunch in a local restaurant, and taste the internationally renowned Cantonese cuisine (meal not included).
After lunch, we'll go for a walk around the gigantic Yuexiu Park. Its 86 hectares contain lakes, museums, and monuments such as The Legend of the Five Goats statue, the most famous in the city.
Finally, we will visit the General Sun Yat-sen Memorial Museum, where the memory of this important historical character who established the first Chinese Republic at the beginning of the 20th century is honoured. He is considered the father of the Republic and modern China. As well as the museum, we'll wander around its colourful gardens and stop to learn more about Sun Yat-sen in front of the statue constructed in his honour.
To end the Guangzhou history tour, we'll accompany you back to your hotel at around 5 pm.
