On this excursion to the Rio do Rastro mountain range from Imbituba, we'll explore some of the most beautiful natural landscapes in southern Brazil, traveling along a road full of history and finding little corners of paradise!
Day Trip to the Rio do Rastro Mountains
At the scheduled time, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Imbituba and set off on our journey to one of the most fascinating natural enclaves in the south of Brazil: the Serra do Rio do Rastro.
Our initial road trip will last around two hours until we reach the beginning of the Serra do Rio do Rastro road, a route used in the 17th century by the first inhabitants of the region. We'll learn tons of fascinating historical fun facts during the tour.
The first stop will be at a panoramic viewpoint and, if we're lucky, we'll even spot the friendly coatis that live in this region. We'll continue the tour through the Rio do Rastro mountains driving through araucaria forests, don't forget your camera!
By now we'll have built up an appetite, so we'll take a break at a nearby restaurant to enjoy the delicious local cuisine. You'll have several options for what to buy for lunch. After eating, we'll visit the Avencal Waterfall and pass through Urubici, one of the main natural attractions of the Catarinense mountain range.
Another of the must-see spots is the Morro da Igreja, where we'll see Pedra Furada and the dramatic landscapes in the São Joaquim National Park. To finish with a bang, we'll travel along the Serra do Corvo Branco road, passing through the canyon formed by the Guarani aquifer. Fascinating!
We'll finish the excursion by returning to the starting point after a total of 11 hours.
