Tour Details
We'll meet at the designated time at the Orden Tercera Church, a place of worship in the municipality of La Seca in Valladolid which has been converted into an events centre.
From this spot, we'll head over to the vineyards in the Javier Sanz Viticultor Winery, a 10-minute drive from La Seca. You'll have to make this journey in your own vehicle, following the guide's car.
We'll conclude this brief drive at Pago de Saltamontes, a farm where we'll visit a pre-phylloxera vineyard. Do you know what this means? We'll find out as we explore this area of vines on foot, which is over 150 years old. Throughout the visit, we'll learn lots of interesting facts about the process of cultivating the Verdejo grape, one of the most characteristic of the Rueda DO region.
As we stroll through the grapevines, we'll get to know the history of the Javier Sanz Winery and explain how its wines are made in its facilities. Additionally, we'll speak of the meticulous effort to recover extinct grape varieties carried out from the winery.
Next, we'll return to the Orden Tercera by car. Within this old church in La Seca, dating back to the 18th century, we'll watch a brief video about the Javier Sanz Winery's history.
Lastly, we'll conclude this 1.5-hour wine tourism experience in the Orden Tercera's tasting room. Here, we'll enjoy a tasting of 4 wines from the Javier Sanz Winery. As a pairing, we'll enjoy cured meats or cheeses with breadsticks. Children under 18 will be served water and will be able to try the cured meats or cheeses. What a high note to end the tour on!
