With this activity, you'll tour Casa Garabitero, a wine center of the Bodegas 1808 winery located in the heart of Laguardia. A tasting of three wines from the Rioja Alavesa is included!
We'll meet at the designated time at Calle Mayor, number 15. In this location in Laguardia, the capital of the Rioja Alavesa, lies Casa Garabitero. This wine center, which belongs to the Bodegas 1808 winery, houses a rural house, a cellar, and a wine-tasting room.
Our tour of this site will begin by going down the stairs that lead to the calao, an underground winery where you'll learn many facts about the wines of the Rioja Alavesa. You'll discover how these wines are crafted, what techniques are applied, and what types of grapes are harvested in this area of the Basque Country that borders La Rioja and Navarra.
Then, we'll head to the tasting room. Here, you'll try a rosé wine, a white wine, and a red wine from the Bodegas 1808 winery. These wines will be accompanied by a pairing of local products like meats, fish, and eggs.
We'll conclude this 1.5-hour wine tourism experience with a short chat with the winemaker who has shown us Casa Garabitero's facilities, where we can share our impressions about the wines we've savored and their pairings.
