Day Trip Details
At the scheduled time, we’ll pick you up from your hotel and set off on a journey through the heart of Fuerteventura. Ready for a day full of culture and flavor? Let’s go!
Our first stop will be at an aloe vera farm, where we’ll spend 30 minutes discovering why this plant, cultivated on the island for centuries, was considered a medicinal treasure by early settlers. Did you know that Majorero aloe is still used today in cosmetics and health products thanks to its exceptional purity?
Back on the road, we’ll reach La Entallada Lighthouse, a neo-Moorish gem perched on a dramatic cliff. For 20 minutes, we’ll admire the Atlantic at its wildest and the unique architecture of this striking landmark.
Next, we’ll head to a small artisanal cheese dairy. During a 45-minute visit, we’ll learn about the production of the famous Majorero cheese, with a tasting included. You’ll see how milk from the native Majorera goat is curdled, hand-molded, pressed, and finally coated with paprika or gofio. It’s a truly meticulous process!
Ready to continue? We’ll make our way to Ajuy, where we’ll spend 40 minutes exploring its fishing village and volcanic caves, shaped by a submarine geological past. We’ll walk across rock layers that were once ocean floor, spotting fossils embedded in the stone. Can you imagine standing on some of the oldest land in the Canary Islands?
Afterwards, we’ll stop briefly at the Risco de las Peñas viewpoint, a place rich in symbolism and offering breathtaking views. We’ll then arrive in Betancuria, the island’s former capital. You’ll have 45 minutes to stroll among Norman-style architecture and historic churches, and to enjoy traditional local cuisine on your own.
We’ll round off the experience with a visit to the Majorero Cheese Museum in Antigua, spending 45 minutes learning why this cheese is much more than just a food product. Housed in a restored former oil mill, the museum blends traditional architecture with modern exhibition spaces dedicated to preserving this valued tradition.
Finally, we’ll return to your hotel, where the tour will end after a total of 6.5 hours.
