At the designated time, we'll meet at 21 Karlsplatz in Munich and hop on the bus to kick off our day trip to Neuschwanstein Castle and Linderhof Palace. Hidden in the mountains of Bavaria, these two extraordinary castles built by King Ludwig II of Bavaria have been declared UNESCO World Heritage Sites since 2025.
First, we'll arrive at Linderhof Palace after approximately 1.5 hours, where we'll enjoy a 1-hour tour with an audio guide. This 19th-century French Rococo-style castle is inspired by Versailles and surrounded by immaculately manicured gardens. It's the smallest of the three palaces built by King Ludwig II of Bavaria. Did you know it's the only palace that was completed, in which he lived most of the time from 1876? Here, you'll learn about the palace's history and explore the different rooms, among which you'll find the Hall of Mirrors, the Eastern and Western Tapestry Chambers, the Audience Chamber, and more.
Then, we'll set off to our next destination, Neuschwanstein Castle, driving through Oberammergau for about 1 hour. This 19th-century palace, located on the foothills of the Alps in southern Germany, looks like a real-life fairy tale. For approximately 4 hours, you can explore this castle at your own pace with an audio guide. As you admire it, you'll soon see why many believe it inspired Disney's storybook castles. Standing at 213 ft (65 m), it's the tallest castle in the world according to the Guinness World Records!
Afterward, we'll start our journey back to Munich, where we'll finally conclude our day trip back at the starting point after 10 hours in total.
