On this tour of the Naples metro, we'll visit art-filled stations and see works by internationally renowned artists—you'll be impressed!
At the indicated time, we'll meet in front of the Teatro Mercadante and give you your tickets before going down the stairs to hop on the train that will take us through the stops of the revolutionary Neapolitan metro.
Firstly, we'll see the works on display in this first station, designed by Àlvaro Siza and Eduardo Souto de Moura. Did you know that its design features archaeological remains from the ancient port of Neapolis? These remains were found during the excavations for its construction. There, we'll see the Passaggi projection and some works by Mimmo Jodice, where we'll see modernity and antiquity blend together!
Afterwards, we'll take the subway to explore four of the most important stations of the city's metro network while we talk about the urban redevelopment of the city and some of the monuments just above.
Among them, we can visit the Toledo stop, famous for its mosaics reminiscent of the sea, the Università stop, which represents language in the digital age with its colourful futuristic installations, or the Dante stop, which stands out for its passage of Dante Alighieri's Convivio in white neon—one of the most photographed works on the entire line!
After 2 hours of discovering the wonders of the Naples metro, we'll say goodbye at one of its stations, but with your 24-hour ticket you can continue exploring the rest and go wherever you want.
