Located in the famous Piazza del Plebiscito, the Royal Palace of Naples is a Baroque gem that stands as a symbol of Bourbon power in the early 17th century.
Your tickets include an audio guide in English, allowing you to explore the history and grandeur of this masterpiece by architect Domenico Fontana. Officially, the palace was built to honor Philip III of Spain, as the monarch was expected to visit Naples, but never did.
Upon entering, you'll ascend the Grand Staircase, one of Europe's most elegant, crafted from marble in varying tones. Each step reflects the history of kings, queens, and diplomats who set foot in this opulent palace.
During the tour, you can visit the Throne Room and the Room of Maria Amalia of Saxony, where frescoes, tapestries, and crystal chandeliers evoke the splendor of southern Italy.
The Court Theater showcases the Bourbons' refined taste for opera and the performing arts. You'll also explore the Gallery, the royal apartments, and the museum dedicated to Enrico Caruso, the famous Neapolitan tenor.
You can also stroll through the gardens, designed as a serene retreat for the court. Among paths lined with camellias and magnolias, classical sculptures, and ornamental fountains, you can enjoy stunning views of the Gulf of Naples with Vesuvius in the distance.
The Royal Palace of Naples is open from Thursday to Tuesday from 9 am to 8 pm. Last entry is at 7:30 pm. Please note that the palace is closed on the first Sunday of each month.
