Tour Details
We'll kick off the tour after meeting at the designated time at Kiriakos Tziblakis. Once everyone's together and after a brief introduction, we'll walk alongside the convent as we begin to make our way into one of the most representative historic buildings in the Naxos old town.
We'll then enter the imposing Venetian Castle of Naxos through the southern gate, known as Paraporti. We'll stroll through its flower-lined alleyways, admiring architectural features from another era that still echo a fascinating medieval past. Did you know this fortress was built by the Venetians in the 13th century after the Fourth Crusade?
Our route will take us through the cloister and school of the Ursuline nuns, where we'll stop to enjoy spectacular views of the town of Naxos and its surroundings.
We'll then head into the "1739" café, set on the terrace of the former Ursuline dormitories, one of the most breathtaking viewpoints in the area. From this privileged spot, we'll take in the patchwork of white houses, the harbor, and the Aegean Sea stretching out to the horizon.
We'll wrap up the tour back at the starting point 1.5 to 2 hours later.
