Let's cross over to Slovenia and visit the Postojna Cave and Predjama Castle. You'll explore the most important karst caves in Europe and the biggest castle built within a cave.
Postojna Cave & Predjama Castle Excursion
We'll pick you up from your hotel in Opatija at 9 am and drive past the border with Slovenia and head to our destination: the Postojna Cave.
After an hour and a half, we'll reach the most famous and visited karst cave in Europe. This visit will be worth the early morning, and you'll see why as soon as we venture into the Postojna Cave. We'll admire the incredible rock formations created over the years - you'll see stalagmites 5 meters long.
We'll continue exploring the cave on a little train that will take us to areas not accessible on foot. On this very special ride through the Postojna Cave, we'll see Murano glass chandeliers, a ballroom, and even olms, also known as the 'dragon's offspring'.
Our next stop will be Predjama Castle, a unique fortress perched on a cliff over 120 meters high. Predjama also happens to be the only cave castle in Europe still standing, which makes this site all the more special.
We'll enter the fortress and explore its different rooms while listening to the fascinating stories of this place, such as the legend of Erasmus of Predjama, the Slovenian Robin Hood.
After the end of this guided tour, we'll return to the minibus and head back to Opatija. We'll drop you off at your hotel around 4 pm.
