Join us on an evening hike to see one of the most beautiful sunsets in the Chilean region of Coquimbo atop Tamaya hill. The low levels of light pollution in this area of South America make for an especially breathtaking sunset.
Sunset Hike on Tamaya Hill
After picking you up at the scheduled time at your hotel in Ovalle, we'll head over to the old mining center of Tamaya, which back in the day was one of the main centers of copper extraction in the world.
As soon as we arrive, we'll set off hiking at Tamaya hill just as the sun begins to set. While we watch the sun gradually go down on the horizon, we'll walk 2 kilometers (1.2 miles) along a medium-difficulty trail with an altitude change of 317 meters (1040 feet).
The most awaited moment of the trip will come when we reach the top of Tamaya hill, located at 1180 meters (3,870 feet) above sea level. We'll be blown away by the spectacular views, and we'll take a break for a snack that includes juice, a cereal bar, and some cookies.
We'll be able to watch the sun go down over the coasts, valleys, and mountain ranges of Coquimbo. If you like photography, you'll definitely want to bring your camera along with you to get the best shots of the Chilean landscapes.
Finally, we'll return to the starting point of the hike and from here, head back to your hotel in Ovalle, where we'll arrive five hours after pickup.
Hotel Pickup
This activity includes pickup from hotels in downtown Ovalle. If you're staying in more remote areas, we'll pick you up at the scheduled time at Plaza de Armas, the central square of the city.
