Join us on this day trip to Cefalù from Palermo! Discover the rich history, natural beauty, and Mediterranean charm of this coastal gem of northern Sicily.
At the designated time, we'll meet in front of the Palermo Centrale railway station. From here, we'll hop into a train and head to Cefalù, kicking off our day trip.
Once we arrive at our destination, we'll go on a guided tour of Cefalú. On this 2.5-hour walk, we'll see the majestic Cathedral of Cefalù from the outside, where we'll admire its Norman facade. Inside, stunning Byzantine mosaics are housed. Surrounded by a golden halo and the four Evangelists, the Christ Pantokrator stands as the true highlight.
We'll admire La Rocca from the center, an enormous rocky formation that dominates the city. We'll then give you 30 minutes of free time to visit the Museo Mandralisca at your own pace, where you can immerse yourself in local history through ancient archaeological finds, works of art, and beautiful paintings.
At the historic center, we'll stop in front of the Medieval Wash-House, a site that will transport you back in time and show you what everyday life was like in the past. Next, we'll see the Church of Santa Maria Dell'Odigitria and Porta Pescara, some of the last remaining medieval fortifications of Cefalù.
Before finishing the tour, you'll have free time to have lunch at a local restaurant of your choice.
After 6 hours, we'll return to Palermo. If you want, you can stay longer in Cefalù. In this case, the guide will give you the train tickets so you can return to Palermo at your own pace at the moment you prefer.
