Tour Details
We'll meet at the indicated time at the Pelourinho do Porto, a well-known monolith located in the praça do Terreiro da Sé, in front of the main entrance to the Cathedral of the Assumption of Our Lady.
Firstly, we'll admire the views of the city from the Terreiro da Sé viewpoint. After enjoying these panoramic views, we'll go inside the cathedral for our guided tour of Porto Cathedral, one of the most important religious monuments in the north of Portugal!
Throughout the tour, we'll learn about the cathedral's history. Its origins date back to the 12th century, so it began to be built following Romanesque patterns, but it later incorporated Gothic and Baroque elements.
As we delve into the church's past, we'll admire its beautiful stained-glass windows, admire the altar of Our Lady and the Child Jesus, and visit its emblematic Gothic cloister. We'll also climb up to the upper viewpoints of Porto Cathedral, from where we'll be able to see one of the most beautiful views of the city.
Finally, we'll visit the Casa do Cabildo Diocesano of Porto, which is annexed to the cathedral and, after a 1-hour tour, we'll conclude the activity in front of the main façade of the cathedral, where we'll look at the details of the portico, the rose window, and its twin bell towers.
