At the scheduled time, we’ll pick you up from your hotel in Rio de Janeiro to begin this tour focused on the Portuguese royal family.
Our first stop will be the exact location where the royal family disembarked upon arriving in Brazil in the 19th century. Here, you’ll hear fascinating stories about the challenges of their long journey and the decisive events that transformed Rio de Janeiro into the political center of the Portuguese Empire.
Next, we’ll walk along the former main street where several members of the royal court once lived. You’ll discover how the aristocracy of the time lived, how homes were organized to host nobles, and some of the curious and even amusing habits that defined the era.
We’ll then see the building that served as King João VI’s office, a place full of historical significance. You’ll learn about the inner workings of the administration of the United Kingdom of Portugal, Brazil, and the Algarve, and understand the strategic role Rio de Janeiro played during this period.
To round off the experience, we’ll visit the National Historical Museum. There, we’ll focus on artifacts directly linked to the Portuguese royal family, including documents and furniture that reveal the customs and power of the colonial and imperial periods.
