elBulli1846: A Restaurant that Changed Everything
Welcome to the world's first restaurant-turned-museum! Visiting elBulli1846 is a must-see experience on the Costa Brava for all food lovers. A place which explains from all perspectives the importance of elBulli, which has managed to change the way of understanding cuisine.
This museum was created to safeguard the legacy of elBulli, a space that revolutionised the world gastronomy scene thanks to Ferran Adrià. Located at Cala Montjoi, in Rosas, elBulli1846 has 79 installations spread out over 4,000 square metres (43,055 square feet) which reflects on gastronomy and innovation.

elBulli1846 is made up of 4 large distinct spaces:
The Outside Space
To understand the history of elBulli and the work carried out by the Bullinianos over the 50 years of the restaurant's life, the museum offers installations out in the open air which reflect on cuisine and innovation.
Do you know what the Sapiens Methodology is and what Bullipedia is? As you explore the outdoor area, you'll learn about the methodology used at elBulli. Another of Ferran Adrià's tasks for visitors to enjoy the experience even more is to take you back to the Palaeolithic era to find out how and when it all began.
The Historic Building
Without a doubt, this is one of the best parts of the tour. You'll have access to the historic building which has housed the elBulli restaurant for 50 years—pure history of the world of cuisine!
Upon entering, you'll learn about the case of elBulli as a company and you'll understand how the systematisation of innovation was applied through the medium of food. You'll also see how everything explained on the outside is reflected in the facilities of the restaurant itself. You'll get a sense of what the culinary experience was like for all of those lucky enough to enter the most famous restaurant in the world.
The Interdisciplinary Relations
This next part of elBulli1846 will allow you to discover what elBulli learned from other disciplines such as science, journalism, photography, writing, architecture and art.
This display brings together all the publications that spoke of elBulli and Ferran Andrià, the diagrams that were drawn, notebooks, maps and exhibitions that were created all over the world to show the influence of this place in every imaginable way.
elBulliDNA
The last part of the tour takes the visitor to discover the projects carried out by elBullifoundation to learn about food and innovation.
Audio Guide
With your ticket, you'll also have an audio guide at your disposal with additional content so that you can learn even more about elBulli1846 on your visit.
The audio guide is available in Spanish, Catalan, English and French and all you have to do is connect to it using your phone. If you don't have a smart phone the museum will provide you with a listening device.
Opening Times
The museum is open from Tuesday to Saturday between 9:30 am and 5 pm. Final entry is at 2 pm.
