Day Trip Details
At the designated time, we'll meet at the Estación Marítima de Santander to set off to our first stop. During the journey, we'll provide you with a detailed itinerary of the day, and you'll have access to exclusive multimedia content so you won't miss any details of the history of the places we'll visit.
Once we reach our destination, you'll have free time to explore the town at your own pace. We recommend visiting the National Museum and Research Center of Altamira, where you'll be amazed by the life-size replica of these famous caves. This Paleolithic site, which is one of the most important in the world, is home to impressive cave paintings that will transport you to the Prehistoric times. Did you know that its discovery in 1868 was completely accidental?
We'll continue our trip to Santillana del Mar, the famous "villa de las tres mentiras" ("villa of the three lies"). You'll have free time to stroll along its cobbled streets and soak in its medieval atmosphere. Here, you'll discover highlights like the Collegiate Church and Cloister of Santa Juliana and the Palacio de Velarde. Plus, we'll give you the best recommendations to try the area's typical sweets and the best spots to take pictures.
Our last stop will be Comillas, truly an open-air architecture museum. After some time for lunch, you'll explore the town's modernist heritage. Don't miss El Capricho by Gaudí, one of the few artworks from the Catalan genius outside of Catalonia, as well as the stunning Palacio de Sobrellano and the Universidad Pontificia.
Finally, we'll start our journey back to Santander, where we'll conclude our day trip after approximately 11 hours.
