Discover another side of Sao Paulo on our private tour of the Paraisóplis Favela. You'll explore the favela and learn all about the daily life and customs of its residents.
Paraisópolis Favela Private Tour
Once we've picked you up from your hotel at your chosen time, we'll set off on our private tour of the second largest favela in Sao Paulo.
After a 30-minute drive, we'll arrive in Paraisópolis. When we get there, we'll start learning about this favela and its 100,000 residents, culture and traditions.
Our first stop will be at the headquarters of the Community Association. We'll learn about its history, how it was founded and its main projects. Next, we'll visit the community's radio studio to listen to a live programme and chat with some of the speakers.
The tour will then take us to Berbéla's mechanical workshop. We'll see how he builds his works from old car parts, scrap metal and lots of other items that would otherwise go to waste.
Next, we'll go to the house of the sculptor Estevão. This sculptor is also known as the Gaudí of Paraisópolis and owns a unique stone house. His house is full of ordinary objects such as cups and plates that form part of its very structure.
We'll continue our tour through the narrow streets of Paraisópolis until we come to the Palmeirinha football field. Here, we might even be able to see a class for the students of the "Rugby for All" project. We'll then pass through the Ruela de Luciana alleyway and walk to the first library built in the community.
Feeling peckish? We'll take you to Bistro Mãos de Maria, a charming place where you can have lunch on your own.
Having spent 5 hours exploring the Paraisópolis Favela, we'll drop you off back at your hotel.
