Activity Details
At the indicated time, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Ushuaia and bring you north toward the famous Beagle Channel. Along the way, we'll make a stop at the Victoria Lagoon, where we'll stop to enjoy a refreshment, and another stop at Brown Bay to see its so-called flag trees, named as such due to their movements caused by southwesterly winds.
We'll then arrive at Puerto Almanza, the primary king crab fishing port in the Beagle Channel. From here, we'll walk approximately 1 kilometre to reach Diana's charming house, the only female captain in the entire Beagle Channel. Her home is tucked away in a rocky enclave on the canal's shore. Diana will share her story, explaining why she chose to leave her previous life and move alone to this remote location, disconnecting from the world and reconnecting with nature. She'll recount her journey as an artisanal fisherwoman and describe her solitary life away from society.
After welcoming us to her home, our host will provide an intimate and personal insight into the local gastronomy, telling us how some of the most traditional dishes of the Beagle Channel are prepared. The ingredients she'll use will be sourced from the channel, primarily products from the sea.
After this explanation, we'll sit down together at the table, have a chat and savour a 4-course menu alongside a glass of wine and water.
We'll then return you to your hotel in Ushuaia, where we'll arrive approximately 8 hours after pickup.
