On this day trip to Anchieta, we'll discover the city's past and its beautiful beaches of crystalline waters – you're sure to be captivated by its beauty!
Day trip to Anchieta
At the scheduled time, we'll leave your hotel and head south along the road that runs parallel to the coast.
After a 1.5-hour drive, we'll arrive in Anchieta. Did you know that this city is named after José de Anchieta? We'll learn the story of this Spanish priest, a native of Tenerife, who arrived in Brazil in 1553 to help with the evangelization of the Native Americans. Such was his bond with them that he learned their language and also opposed the abuses committed by the colonizers.
We'll continue to learn about the history of this religious man by visiting the National Sanctuary of San José de Anchieta, which houses the church of Our Lady of the Assumption and a former Jesuit residence dating from 1579. As we'll see, this is a place that arouses great fervor among Catholics in the area.
Then, we'll head to the Iriri area, where you'll have 2 hours free to visit Costa Azul and Areia Preta, two beautiful beaches with crystal-clear waters. You can take advantage of this time to sunbathe, snorkel, swim, and have a drink in one of the restaurants located in front of the coast.
From the coast of Iriri, we'll finally return to your hotel, where we will arrive 7 hours after pickup.
