Madaba & Mount Nebo (3-4 hours)
We'll leave Amman behind and travel to Madaba, the city of mosaics and the main Christian city of Jordan. After about an hour's drive, we'll arrive at our destination, where we'll discover the vestiges of the golden age, which was between the 2nd and 4th centuries.
Then, we'll visit the Orthodox Church of St. George and see the detailed mosaic inside, the oldest surviving map of the Middle East! Afterwards, we'll continue our tour and travel to Mount Nebo, where, according to the Bible, Moses admired the Promised Land.
In addition to learning about the history of this site, you'll enjoy amazing views of the Jordan Valley and the Dead Sea. To regain your strength, you'll have an hour of free time to enjoy lunch on your own at a nearby restaurant.
Bethany & Dead Sea (3-4 hours)
We'll leave Amman and head for Bethany, which is located on the banks of the Jordan River. Did you know that this is where John the Baptist baptized Jesus of Nazareth? Here at this pilgrimage center on the border with Israel, we'll see churches of different Christian denominations.
Then, we'll visit the archaeological remains of the Byzantine churches built in this holy place. We'll also see the monument marking the exact spot where Jesus Christ was baptized.
Afterwards, we'll leave Bethany and travel to the Dead Sea, where you'll have free time to swim in its waters. Find out for yourself if you can float effortlessly in this famous body of water!
Before returning to Amman, you can have lunch at a nearby restaurant on your own.
Desert Castles & Dead Sea (4-5 hours)
In this option, we'll discover the hidden treasures of the sands of Jordan. We'll travel to the Desert Castles, which are fortresses that were built between the 7th and 11th centuries and used to defend the city, as well as caravanserais and palaces. During the excursion, we'll visit Qasr al-Harranah (Harranah Castle), Qasr Amra (Amra Castle), and Qasr al-Hallabat (Hallabat Castle), three bastions with an exciting past that we'll learn all about during the tour.
After visiting the Desert Castles, you'll have some free time for lunch at a nearby restaurant. Then, we'll head to the Dead Sea so you can take a dip in this body of water that's more than 400 meters below sea level!
Amman, Jerash, & Ajloun Castle (4-5 hours)
First, we'll take a panoramic tour of Amman, perfect for getting to know the capital of Jordan. During the tour, we'll see its Byzantine and Arab archaeological remains, as well as the Roman theater of Amman.
Next, we'll head to Jerash, in the north of Jordan. Did you know that it's known as the "Pompeii of Asia"? This is because of the many Roman ruins it possesses. We'll explore its roads, admiring the Arch of Hadrian, the forum, the colonnaded street, the Temple of Artemis, and the South Theater.
Then, we'll take you to a nearby restaurant for lunch on your own. After lunch, we'll head to Ajloun Castle, a fortress used by the Muslims for defense during the Crusades.
Petra (4-6 hours)
We'll leave Amman behind and head towards the south of Jordan to visit fascinating Petra. After about 4 hours of travel, we'll arrive at this ancient rock-hewn city, the capital of the Nabataeans and an important commercial center until the 4th century.
Upon arrival, we'll ride through the gorges of Petra on horseback to reach the Treasury, the most important and recognized building of the archaeological site of Petra. We'll visit the royal tombs and learn all about the history of the "pink city of the desert".
You'll then have some free time to have lunch in a nearby restaurant. Finally, with your appetite satiated, we'll return to your hotel in Amman.
