Maestrazgo Mining Park & Culla Tour
We'll meet in front of the Castellón Tourist Office at 9:10 am and board a minibus bound for Upper Maestrazgo. One of the most interesting local attractions, the Maestrazgo Mining Park, is located in this region. Let's go!
A charming mining train will take us to the entrance of the Victoria Mine. With our safety helmets firmly on, we'll enter this underground cavity to discover the courageous work of miners from hundreds of years ago. How did they work? What minerals were extracted? Were the mines safe? We'll unveil the answers during the tour...
In addition, you'll see several mining tools, original carts and explanatory panels that'll help you understand what daily life was like in the Maestrazgo Mining Park.
Once we're back on ground level, we'll return to the train and head to the Esperanza Mine. In this underground cavern, we'll focus on the natural conditions of the caves. We'll talk about the geological phenomena, spot shafts and see centuries-old stalactites.
We'll then take a minibus to Culla, a town with a medieval feel and Templar roots. As we discover this town's relationship with the Order of the Temple, we'll pass by the 11th-century castle, the Commander's granary and the old hospital.
Lastly, we'll head back to Castellón de la Plana, where we should arrive at around 1:50 pm.
