Tour Details
At the indicated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Caxias do Sul to begin this tour through the history of Italian immigration in this city in the state of Rio Grande do Sul.
During the tour, we'll learn about the arrival of Italian immigrants coming from the regions of Lombardy, Veneto or Tyrol during the second half of the 17th century, and how they formed the first colonies.
We'll venture into the Galópolis neighbourhood, where we'll pass by historic English-style houses and learn about the region's industrial and textile past. Afterwards, we'll travel along the old Rio Branco road until we reach the Grutinha Winery. There, we'll taste their wines, juices and sparkling wines, made with expertise passed down from generation to generation.
Our tour will continue with a visit to the Stone Church, one of the oldest stone churches in Caxias, and the Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes, a place with revitalising energy. We'll continue our historical immersion by visiting the memorial and historic houses of the Bonnet Family, perfect examples of colonial architecture.
To finish on a sweet note, we'll visit a local agro-industry. There, you can sample freshly made delicacies such as biscuits, sweets, breads, panettones and the famous German cucas adapted to the region. You'll also have free time if you wish to have lunch on your own.
Finally, we'll take you back to the departure point, where we'll say our goodbyes after a total of 6 hours.
