Day Trip Details
At the designated time, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Chengdu to begin this private day trip to Mount Qingcheng and Dujiangyan. Get ready to discover two of the most emblematic corners of the region of Sichuan!
After an approximately 1 hour and 15-minute journey, we'll reach Mount Qingcheng, a majestic site surrounded by lush forests known for being the birthplace of Taoism. Here, you'll have 3 hours to marvel at the Taoist temples that emerge from the dense bamboo trees. This site will look like it's from a fairytale.
Then, we'll board a boat to cross the Yuecheng Lake, which reflects the site's serenity. We'll also board the cable car to explore the heights of the mountain. As we ascend, you'll see some of the most emblematic temples, such as Jianfu Temple, from the Tang dynasty, and the Tianshi Cave, built during the Qing dynasty.
After this cultural and spiritual immersion, we'll stop at a local restaurant to enjoy a typical Sichuan lunch so you can grab a bite to eat. After lunch, we'll head to the famous Dujiangyan irrigation system, a wonder of ancient engineering declared a World Heritage site.
Constructed in 256 B.C., this system is a masterpiece that has transformed the region into one of China's most fertile. Here, you'll have 1 hour to visit the "fish mouth" and discover how this hydraulic project has operated uninterrupted for over 2 millenniums.
Plus, we'll pass by Lidui Park and discover the Two Kings Temple and the Dragon-Taming Temple, two sites that stand out for their traditional architecture and intricate sculptures.
Before returning to Chengdu, we'll visit the Dujiangyan Zhongshuge bookstore in Dujiangyan. This place is famous for its unique design that spectacularly combines books and architecture. It'll be the perfect place to take pictures!
Finally, after spending a day discovering stunning landscapes, we'll return to your hotel, where we'll say goodbye after 9 hours.
