Tour Details
At the time of your choice, we will pick you up from your hotel to start an amazing private tour of Ciudad Rodrigo, the second-largest municipality in Salamanca. Throughout the tour, you will be free to choose which monuments to visit or which areas of the city you would like to explore.
A good starting point for our guided tour is the Plaza Mayor square. The atmosphere of its terraces is complemented by the beauty of its buildings, such as the Ciudad Rodrigo Town Hall, a jewel of Castilian Renaissance art. After admiring its façade, we'll stroll through the town's historic quarter. Did you know that it was declared a Historic-Artistic Site in 1944?
Another of the symbols of Ciudad Rodrigo is the cathedral of Santa María. Together with the Old Cathedral of Salamanca, the Cathedral of Zamora, and the Collegiate Church of Toro, they form the so-called "Salamanca group", an architectural style that is unique in the world. If you wish, you can visit the interior of the cathedral, although the entrance fee is not included in the price of the tour.
We'll continue our private tour of Ciudad Rodrigo to see its famous boar, a pre-Roman sculpture reminiscent of the famous Toros de Guisando. Finally, we'll visit the fortress that protects Ciudad Rodrigo from invaders: the castle of Enrique II of Castile. Don't forget your camera!
Finally, we'll say goodbye after about 2 or 2.5 hours, depending on whether you have decided to visit the cathedral or not.
