By renting a kayak on the Gardon River, you can take an unforgettable trip to the Pont du Gard, one of the main Roman aqueducts in France!
Activity Details
At the indicated time, we'll meet at the car park in Collias and, from there, we'll take you by minibus to an adventure sports centre located on the banks of the Gardon River.
Once we arrive to the shore, an instructor will explain the rules that you must follow during your kayak route along the Gardon River. Afterwards, we'll give you your kayak, paddles and life jacket.
Once you're equipped with everything you need, you'll head off and paddle towards the Pont du Gard. The route is 8 kilometres (4.9 miles) and of low difficulty. Along it, you'll see one of the most beautiful areas in southern France, located between the regions of Occitania and Provence.
Along the journey, you'll admire a green landscape characterised by the area's Mediterranean vegetation. As well as that, as you sail along the Gardon River, you'll have a unique perspective of the waterway.
Your journey will conclude at the foot of the Pont du Gard. This spectacular Roman aqueduct, listed as a World Heritage Site, was built in the 1st century AD. It's one of the main engineering works of the ancient Roman province of Gallia Narbonensis, whose territory extended over a large part of southern France.
After viewing the monument, you'll be taken by minibus from the Pont du Gard to the meeting point, where this 2-hour activity will end.
