Meissen Day Trip
Our first stop in Meissen will be a porcelain factory. You'll have 30 minutes to explore and to buy some souvenirs. Then we'll go into the old town to admire some of its most symbolic places, such as the Bahrmannsche Brauhaus brewery and the medieval chapel of Our Lady. During the tour, you'll taste a typical sweet bread.
We'll then visit the Lutheran cathedral dedicated to St. John and St. Donatus, where you'll be fascinated by its extraordinary ceilings. On the way out, we'll go to the Albert Castle or Albrechtsburg, a fortress of the Margraviate of Meissen, which you'll be able to visit on your own. Afterwards, you'll have 2 hours of free time to explore the town and have lunch.
Rathen and Königstein Fortress Day Trip
This excursion will take you to Rathen, a municipality located in the Saxon Switzerland National Park. Upon arrival, we'll take a 1 km walk to the Bastei. This viewpoint, known for its impressive sandstone rocks, offers an extraordinary view of the river Elbe. Next to it is a bridge with seven arches, where you can see the Mardertelle gorge and its 40-metre deep ravine.
Afterwards, we'll go down to the village, and spend 1 hour of free time for a typical dish and a beer. Then we'll travel to the Königstein Fortress, a military stronghold dating back to the 13th century. Inside, you'll learn about the history of this unconquerable fortress and see its cannons intact.
