The Limarí River wetland is a place of exceptional beauty. Join us on an excursion to explore this Nature Sanctuary, enjoy a bird-watching activity and a kayak tour, a jam-packed day!
Birdwatching + Kayaking Tour
After picking you up from your hotel in Ovalle at 9 am, we'll get in the vehicle and head southwest on a scenic road.
After a one-hour drive, we'll arrive at the Limarí River wetlands, a spectacular place declared a Nature Sanctuary, which stands out for its amazing biodiversity. It's also recognized as a biosphere reserve and stargazing destination, thanks to its uniquely clear skies. The moment we arrive, we'll see why this place is so renowned.
First, we'll set off on a 1.5-hour walk through the nature reserve in search of native birds. We'll use a bird-watching manual that will help us distinguish the different species. Then we'll continue hiking along the beautiful landscapes of the Caleta El Toro river inlet.
At the end of the hike along the Limarí river beach, we'll take a break for a delicious sandwich made from local products. Once we're refreshed and recharged, it'll be time for the kayak tour on the river. During this 20-minute activity, you'll be able to sit back and relax, enjoying the scenery aboard the canoe as a passenger while the guide paddles.
After the relaxing float on the water, we'll return to the banks of the Limarí River and return by road to Ovalle. Arrival at your hotel is scheduled for 3 pm.
Hotel Pickup
This activity includes pickup from hotels in downtown Ovalle. If you're staying in more remote areas, we'll pick you up at the scheduled time at the city's main square.
