Discover three beautiful volcanic lakes surrounded by a vast moorland on our Fuya Fuya Hill Hike. We'll set off from Quito and spend the day in a breathtaking natural area.
Fuya Fuya Hill Hike
Once we've met up at 7:30 am in front of the Tribuna de los Shyris in Quito, we'll head to the Mojanda Lagoons. When we get there, we'll set off on a hike to the top of Fuya Fuya Hill. On our way there, we'll make a stop in Cayambe for breakfast.
Our 3-hour route will take us through an area with beautiful volcanic scenery where we'll find three stratovolcanic lakes: Karikucha, Yanakucha and Warmikucha. We might even spot some friendly alpacas around the lakes!
We'll cross several moorlands of meadows and mountain scrubland until we come to Fuya Fuya Hill, which towers at an elevation of 13,779 feet (4,200 metres) above sea level. From the top, we'll gaze out at breathtaking panoramic views of the Imbabura, Cayambe, llinizas, Cotopaxi and Cotacachi Volcanoes.
While we admire the views, we'll have a sandwich and a drink to get our energy back. We'll then make our way back down to the base of the hill to board our vehicle and head to the poncho fair in Otavalo. You'll love the arts and crafts here!
After our stop in Otavalo, we'll drive back to the meeting point in Quito and drop you off at 5 pm.
