On this tour of the highlands of Santa Cruz Island, we'll visit the most iconic places of this paradise in the Galapagos, such as the Rancho Primicias, the lava tunnels, and the Twin Craters!
At the indicated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Puerto Ayorato and head to the Santa Cruz highlands!
The first stop will be at Rancho Primicias, an excellent place to see the giant tortoises that give the archipelago its name. We'll learn all about these friendly reptiles while watching them eat or rest in their natural habitat.
Afterwards, we'll go to the famous lava tunnels of Santa Cruz. We'll take a walk through these geological formations and be transported back in time as we go deeper and deeper.
We'll then go to another of the island's iconic sites, the Twin Craters. These two unique sinkholes were caused by a volcanic depression over the years. In this enclave, we'll also see the typical vegetation of the highlands, such as escalesias, mosses, and orchids.
After a 3.5-hour tour, we’ll finish up in downtown Puerto Ayora, specifically at the Monumento de la Tortuga (the turtle statue). Please note that you’ll need to make your own way back to the hotel.
