At the indicated time, we'll begin our night tour of Seville Cathedral from the Puerta de San Cristóbal. Are you ready to discover the largest Gothic temple in the world? At night, its interior can be appreciated more calmly, without the crowds that usually form during the rest of the day.
First, we'll take a 45-minute tour of the interior of Seville Cathedral. One of the most important features of the cathedral is the tomb of Christopher Columbus. This spectacular funerary monument, dating from 1889, has numerous details that we'll try to decipher.
In addition, throughout the tour, we'll see religious paintings and sculptures from the 15th to 19th centuries. Among them, the figure of La Cieguecita by Juan Martínez Montañés and the paintings El Ángel de la Guarda by Murillo and Las santas Justa y Rufina by Goya are particularly noteworthy.
We'll also visit certain chapels that are usually closed during the day. This is the case of the Royal Chapel, the burial place of several kings of Spain, such as Ferdinand III "the Saint", Alfonso X "the Wise" and Peter I of Castile.
After admiring the High Altar and touring the central nave and its main chapels, we'll visit the Giralda, the cathedral's bell tower. During this tour, which will take about 15 minutes, we'll climb the ramps that lead to the top. From this spot, located 94 m (308 ft) above ground, we'll enjoy one of the best views of Seville at night.
To end the tour, we'll enjoy a 30-minute audiovisual show inside the cathedral. On Mondays and Fridays, this consists of video mapping at different points around the temple, while on Saturdays, the projection takes place above the High Altar. In all cases, you'll see beautiful sequences in which colours and sacred works of art merge with music, creating a truly magical moment.
