Description
The tour begins in Plaza de la Constitución, where you'll hop on board a golf cart ready to take you on a historical journey through the beautiful city of St. Augustine. A city rich with history and stories to tell!
For an hour and 15 minutes, you'll be transported to the past, passing through the Olde-style streets of St. Augustine discovering important sites within this old European settlement. Sites such as the Plaza de la Constitución, the Puerto de Matanzas, and the Puente de los Leónes, all incredible monuments to its early European influence. The most noteworthy is Castillo de San Marcos, now a national park of the United States, originally built to defend Florida and the Atlantic trade route.
Further north in the city, a mile from the Castillo, is the Misión Nombre de Dios, built in 1565. Continuing up one more mile is the archeological park of the famous Fountain of Youth a tribute to where famous explorer Ponce de Leon is believed to have first made landfall in the Americas. With its history, St. Augustine offers gripping legends and myths about its past.
Along the ride you'll see lavish hotels like the Ponce de León Hotel, Alcazar Hotel, and Casa Mónica all touting stunning facades. You'll see the wide span of architecture St. Augustine has to offer from colonial Spanish to British styles. The tour will culminate at the Flagler Memorial Presbyterian church, a mix of Italian, Spanish, Arabesque, and Barqoue style architecture before completing its route and returning to the Plaza de la Constitución.
