The history of the Argentine Republic cannot be understood without a trip to San Miguel de Tucumán. In this iconic city in the north of the country we'll discover its great monumental heritage.
San Miguel de Tucumán Tour
We'll depart at 2 pm from your hotel in Termas de Río Hondo towards San Miguel de Tucumán, one of the most outstanding historical cities in the north of Argentina.
We'll start our tour of Tucumán by visiting the 9 de Julio Park, where we'll see its famous Floral Clock. We'll then head to the city centre for a stroll around the Plaza de la Independencia. On this esplanade, we'll see such outstanding monuments as the Government House and the Cathedral of Nuestra Señora de la Encarnación.
After learning about the history of the temple, we'll continue our route through the old part of Tucumán next to the Casa Histórica de la Independencia. This is a very special place in the history of the country, as it was here that Argentina's emancipation from Spain was proclaimed on 9 July 1816.
Just a few metres from the Casa Histórica we'll also see the church of Santo Domingo, also known as the minor basilica of Nuestra Señora del Rosario. Its neoclassical façade, located precisely on Calle 9 de Julio, is sure to remind you of the architecture of the great Italian churches.
Finally, from the historic centre of Tucumán we'll return to Termas de Río Hondo. Arrival at your hotel is scheduled for 8 pm.
